II Peter 1:4 Escaping corruption
Through our knowledge off Jesus, we are given a promise. With this promise, we escape the corruption of the world by overcoming evil desires. First thing is the knowledge of Christ! We will never get anywhere with our ignorance. We have to have enough knowledge to recognize and believe in the promise of God, which is that He will never leave us and will always be with us, loving us who are unworthy through His grace and mercy. Second thing is to live the promise! To not become slaves to this world by being under its standard for happiness but being free from it by the promise. Lastly, it mentions that this happens when we escape the corruption of this world and our evil desires. So if you have not begun to escape worlds corruption or not desire to be freed from your evil desires then you do not yet have the promise.
