Responding to Jesus request

When Jesus talks about farming and fishing I have to stretch myself to understand the references... But this one - well he could have been talking about my boys.
One of my sons tends to say no- I have learnt that it is his way of expressing his dislike for the task, or his frustration that he might have to give up something else to do it but he goes and does it.
Another son tends to say yes...he is rather impulsive and can respond without thinking through what his response may mean and so you often find he doesn't get around to the actual doing because he had other things to o first.
So in responding to Jesus I am challenged...don't respond lightly nor just with the Words that I know He wants to hear. Count the cost, absorb what it truly means, tell Him that I'm not sure if I can, that I'm finding it hard to let go of my own agenda or afraid to let go of control of my life...be honest about my struggles...and then allow Him to work through those struggles so that I can do it in His strength.
