The Invitation

I would imagine that receiving a wedding invitation from a king would make you feel pretty honored. You would probably show that invitation to everyone. It seems crazy to think you would turn down the chance to attend what was sure to be a pretty spectacular event.
Yet, sometimes that is how we act with God. We get all excited because we have been given an invitation to be in relationship with God...we take out our invitation ( the Word) each day and read it through, we hang out with others who have the invitation And discuss it together, sing about it etc...but put off actually fully embracing that relationship because we are too caught up in our own plans and activities, or when we do decide to spend some time with Him - possibly because we need something from Him- we come unprepared, with a casual attitude hardly recognizing the privilege that we have.
LORD, forgive me for not embracing my relationship more fully or deliberately, for being satisfied that I can have a relationship but not truly exploring that relationship or deepening that relationship. I know it could be so much more than what it is if I would be willing to let go of my own agendas. Help me to not be content with knowing about you but desire to truly know You.
