Famine is Foretold by Agabus the Prophet


Claudius was the Roman emperor from 41 to 54 A.D. This dearth (or famine) extended from A.D. 45 to 48. The prediction of the famine by Agabus probably came to pass within that year.

In the early Church, they really helped one another. Aid was sent from Antioch
to Jerusalem by the hands of Barnabas and Paul. This was Paul's second visit to Jerusalem since his conversion more than ten years earlier, but Paul was no longer a welcomed man in Jerusalem. In Acts 12:25, Barnabas and Paul returned from Jerusalem. In chapter twelve, Luke backtracks and inserts several events which took place in 44 A.D., about a year before the famine began
