Are you comfortless

To see children starving in other countries... its hard!
To see the dictators rule their countries dishonestly, the genocides that take place, the suicide bombings ...its all hard to see.
But to see people suffering spiritually, that are without Jesus ...that's the hardest to see.

They have no hope. They have no comfort because the comforter -who is the Holy Spirit- is not a part of their lives!

Again I saw all the people who were mistreated here on earth. I saw their tears and that they had no one to comfort them. (Ecclesiastes 4:1a NCV)

They have not accepted Jesus into their hearts. Either they don't believe in Him or know about Him, but they have not asked for His comfort, His spirit!

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26 KJV)

Sadly, the prince of this world is Satan, and he is definitely an oppressor.
And to live in this world without the comfort of Jesus...it would seem better --to just be dead!

I decided that the dead are better off than the living. (Ecclesiastes 4:2 NCV)

Or to never be born!

But those who have never been born are better off still; they have not seen the evil that is done here on earth. (Ecclesiastes 4:3 NCV)

I wonder what we look like to God? People scurrying around working day and night...just to keep up with the next guy!
To keep up appearances!
You say-thats not why I wanted the new car, thats not why I wanted the new home, the new boat, the new clothes...
Really?

I realized the reason people work hard and try to succeed: They are jealous of each other. This, too, is useless, like chasing the wind. (Ecclesiastes 4:4 NCV)

Yet, laziness, striving for nothing, isn't right either..

Some say it is foolish to fold your hands and do nothing, because you will starve to death. (Ecclesiastes 4:5 NCV)

There's got to be balance...

Maybe so, but I say it is better to be content with what little you have. Otherwise, you will always be struggling for more, and that is like chasing the wind.
(Ecclesiastes 4:6 NCV)

Solomon sees the loneliness, those without families!

Family IS important! And it's important to be part of one!
But I'm not talking just blood related family! I'm talking being part of your church family! We should all be part of THAT family!

I saw a man who had no family, no son or brother. He always worked hard but was never satisfied with what he had.
(Ecclesiastes 4:8a NCV)

If we live our lives for ourselves and never hand any thing down to anyone- spiritually speaking, what purpose was our life?

He never asked himself, “For whom am I working so hard?
(Ecclesiastes 4:8b NCV

Do you find yourself working so much there's no time to enjoy what you're working for, no time to ENJOY LIFE?

Why don’t I let myself enjoy life?” This also is very sad and useless. (Ecclesiastes 4:8b NCV)

We're here for a reason. People are hurting! They need to know Jesus! What will our legacy be? What will we pass on to those we leave behind?
Just a work ethic?

And Solomon sees it in others, but he should know first hand that its true ....that when we work to feed ego, it's unfulfilling!
We never get enough!

So fame and power are useless, like chasing the wind.
(Ecclesiastes 4:16b NCV)

It's not about us! And we can't make it about us, otherwise it's just emptiness!
We need a Savior to help us do the work we're called to do!

Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together.
(Ecclesiastes 4:9 NCV)

Without Him our work is in vain!
Without His power we will fizzle out!

If one falls down, the other can help him up. But it is bad for the person who is alone and falls, because no one is there to help.
(Ecclesiastes 4:10 NCV)

But He's there if we do!
He's there to light that fire if we're burning on low, if we're just barely burning!

If two lie down together, they will be warm, but a person alone will not be warm. (Ecclesiastes 4:11 NCV)

My grandmas house had no heat in the upstairs so in the winter it was very cold up there, but she had these huge, heavy comforters on the bed that were so warm!
It is much like Gods spirit!
He IS that comforter that takes the bitter cold out and puts a warm glow within! He IS that comforter!

We go it alone, we'll get eaten alive! Our enemy is always at the side lines waiting to snag us and have us for dinner!

An enemy might defeat one person, but two people together can defend themselves;
(Ecclesiastes 4:12a NCV)

We won't be defeated with Jesus!

a rope that is woven of three strings is hard to break.
(Ecclesiastes 4:12b NCV)

We need to believe in all three! Father -Son and Holy Ghost!

Without Him we become bitter & hard hearted and will get discouraged and depressed about the atrocities of this life!

Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them!
(Ecclesiastes 4:1a ESV)

We need that great big warm comforter, God!
We need to comfort others with the comfort He gives us!

He comforts us every time we have trouble, so when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us.
(2 Corinthians 1:4 NCV)

I don't want to be left comfortless!
I want more more of Him, more of the Comforter! How about you?
