Heaven: It's Real!

“I saw the Lord sitting on a throne.” WOW!!! Have you ever had that thought, “If God would just come down and reveal Himself to me?” Is it good enough that we have brothers and sisters in the faith who have had the opportunity to see the Lord in the Heavenly realms and have recorded what they experienced? Look at the detailed description Isaiah gives to his vision. It is almost identical to the vision that John had in the book of Revelation. Are you humbled and overwhelmed to know that even the holy Seraphim have two sets of wings for the sole purpose of hiding their faces from God’s holiness and glory? The Heavenly realms are holy and powerful. The very creative energy of the Lord exists there. The foundations of Heaven tremble and the temple is filled with holy smoke of the presence of God Almighty. The very Seraphim are compelled to praise the Lord by saying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Host, the whole earth is full of His glory.”

So, what should this mean to you and me today? Well, let me tell you what it means to me. As I live in this chaotic world of sinfulness and darkness, and as I live in the confusion and disorder of the society, there really IS a place that I long for. Heaven isn’t just a wish, it is a certainty. God is in the heavenly realms and He reigns. And although I don’t always see His hand in the chaos of my daily life, He is still ever present. He is working in my daily life through His Word and His providence to bring stability and hope. He sent His Son Jesus into this world to show us once and for all that He has not abandoned us here but has redeemed and called us to Himself. You and I can be certain, even today, that God will restore order when He returns again.

Amazingly, there is a day when we will see the same vision as Isaiah and John, but it won’t be a vision. It will actually be Heaven coming down to this earth and proclaiming an end to our suffering and chaos. On that day, love and peace will reign in perfect order. Today, I hope expectantly for that day.

Peace!

Tom
