Get out while there's still time - Pastor Mark McCarty #youversion notes

Lot started off by pitching his tent towards Sodom. Not long after he was sitting at the city gate, in a place of honor. The lesson to learn; you can't flirt with sin. It will engulf you and become normal to you.

Two angels came to Sodom in the evening. They were met by Lot who insisted that they spend the night with him. Later on that night the men of the city showed up at Lot's home in force. They demanded that Lot give up the men so that they could have sex with them.

Lot tried to reason with them. He even tries to give them his daughters instead. Lot had become ignorant of the power of God. With two angels in his house he was trying to negotiate with sin. What was he thinking?

The angels pulled Lot back inside and struck the crowd with blindness. Even blind they still groped around trying to find the door. The depths if spiritual blindness are hard to underestimate.

The angels told Lot to get all of his family out of Sodom immediately. When Lot told his son in laws to get out of town they thought he was joking. They didn't leave though. They didn't believe him so they died in the city by God's wrath. Don't let anyone you love die in sin. Love them enough to plead with and pray for them.

With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.” (Genesis 19:15 NIV)

The angels message was urgent. You don't have time to wait! If you are stuck in sin and don't know Jesus as you Savior you are slated for destruction and eternal punishment. If it weren't for Jesus no one would have a way out of Sodom. Jesus conquered sin and death. He is the only way to be saved. The example of Sodom and Lot are given us as an example.

God isn't willing that those who know Him should die the second death.

When he (Lot) hesitated, the men (angels) grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. (Genesis 19:16 NIV)

God loves us and sent Jesus to save us from our sins. Listen to Him and accept the salvation that only comes through Jesus Christ
