Obedience and trust in God

Luke wrote a historical narrative about the birth of the church and the new ministry of the Holy Spirit for Theophilus. On his second missionary journey, Paul came to Corinth, which became a major base of operations for him. He unsuccessfully preached to the synagogue and then turned his attention to the Gentiles. Jesus spoke to Paul directly in a vision to continue to evangelize because he will be protected from persecution. When persecution did arise, God protected Paul just as He said He would. The successor synagogue leader, Sosthenes, wasn't so blessed.

One of Luke's themes in Acts is that the Christians are constantly accused of breaking laws but are always innocent.

When we are following God's instructions, evangelizing or other ministry, He sovereignty guides and protects us. It does not mean that we will not be persecuted or even martyred. But we only suffer at His discretion. He is in control of all things. His work will be accomplished through us as long as we're obedient. We leave the results up to Him.
