Is God fed up with us?

Does God get fed up with us? Does He turn His back on us when we are rebellious! Does the God of the universe have feelings?

The Israelites left the Lord and stopped serving him. So the Lord was angry with them and handed them over to the Philistines and the Ammonites. (Judges 10: 7 NCV)

1. They rebelled. Again!

So the Israelites suffered for eighteen years. So the Israelites cried out to the Lord, “We have sinned against you. We left our God and worshiped the Baal idols.” (Judges 10:10 NCV)

2. They repent. Again!

The Lord answered the Israelites, “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines, Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites were cruel to you, you cried out to me, and I saved you. But now you have left me again and have worshiped other gods. So I refuse to save you again. (Judges 10:11-13 NCV)

3. God is fed up with them. Again

You have chosen those gods. So go call to them for help. Let them save you when you are in trouble.”
But the people of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned. Do to us whatever you want, but please save us today!” (Judges 10:14, 15 NCV)

They know WHO to run to! They know their daddy! Yet they test him, constantly! Much like a toddler in the terrible two's, they give their daddy a headache!
He lets them learn the hard way, like we have to finally let our young toddler get his fingers burnt before he quits playing with fire!

So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord.
And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel. (Judges 10:16 NKJV)

4...HE forgives. Again'

"And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel! "
Don't you love that! When you're in misery, God is in misery! The God of the universe does have feelings! He hears your cries!

Just like, when that toddler that cries when his fingers get burnt, God is like that mother who will pick him up, who will hold him, kiss him, put salve on his wound, and all the while she is comforting him she prays he will not do it again!

Has he learned his lesson! If he's maturing he has. If he's a little on the slow side he'll probably do it, again!

God does get 'fed up' ...but He never turns His back on us. He turns His back on our sin! He turns away when we turn to sin!
This was not in our vows with Him, to flirt with the neighbor!
To have an affair with that person at work!
To hurt His heart by loving other 'gods'...

We can't assume God will keep sweeping it all under the rug. We will reap what we sow!
We will learn, even its the hard way!

When Jesus is asked.,.how many times should I forgive my brother, seven times? He answers like this ..

Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. (Matthew 18:21, 22 NKJV)

Seventy X seven...in other words... just keep forgiving!
And that is what He does! He doesn't ask us to do something that He does not do Himself!

So, just as we get fed up with our kids, our heavenly Father gets fed up with us!
And though we get fed up with our kids, they're still ours!
And we'll always be His!
