Search no more
Here we have 3 different people that are lost and searching,
You have Micah, who was serving God in his own way...making his ephod and idols to worship God!
This man, Micah, had a private chapel. He had made an ephod and some teraphim-idols and had ordained one of his sons to be his priest. (Judges 17:5 MSG)
Then you have the Levite coming in from nowhere and looking for a place to settle. He's away from his Levite family.
Now there was a young man from Bethlehem in Judah, of the family of Judah; he was a Levite, and was staying there. The man departed from the city of Bethlehem in Judah to stay wherever he could find a place. Then he came to the mountains of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, as he journeyed. (Judges 17:7, 8 NKJV)
Why had he left Bethlehem? Was he running away from something? We can only wonder why he is alone and looking 'wherever he could find a place' to stay,..
Micah's looking for peace, The Levite looking for a home!
Then come the Danites... They're unsettled and searching!
' In those days there was no king in Israel. But also in those days, the tribe of Dan was looking for a place to settle down. They hadn't yet occupied their plot among the tribes of Israel. (Judges 18:1 MSG)
And why we're they looking for a place to settle down? Moses had given them their inherited land.. to take as their own !
The Amorites forced the Danites back into the mountains and would not let them come down to live in the plain. The Amorites were DETERMINED to stay in Mount Heres, Aijalon, and Shaalbim. But when the Israelites grew stronger, they made the Amorites work as slaves. (Judges 1:34, 35 NCV)
They weren't as DETERMINED as the Amorites were! But God DOESN'T tell us to do something and then not help us do it!
They didn't take their land and drive the inhabitants out!
We have to DETERMINE to do what God tells us to do and not make excuses why we can't!
Micah's looking for peace, the Levites looking for a home, the Danites are looking for their land.
And they're all looking for God'
But they're looking in the wrong place!
You don't find God in a shrine with idols!
You don't find God by buying your very own priest!
You don't find God by not being obedient!
It's like all of us, searching and longing for God! Everyone has a desire in their heart to know God!
We're born with it!
What we fill our empty heart with will determines out destiny!
We need to be filled with God, His Holy Spirit!
We need to be filled with His Word!
Read this Bible but not only read it,
but do it.
We need to talk to God ourselves!
We need to be with a group of believers...in a church that worships Jesus Christ.
People that don't go to church get off track, they start doing things their own way!
They get weird!
God says to BE part of the BODY OF CHRIST.., be the CHURCH!
Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing.(Colossians 3:15 MSG)
If your searching, search no longer,
God is here! He knows you, but He wants you to to know Him!
He wants to be IN your heart and fill that emptiness!
