How low can you go?
Was this Lots cousin for heavens sake?Willing to throw the women to the dogs? No chivalry here, thats for sure!
I'm not sure if it's because I am a woman that this chapter infuriates me, but it does!
I'm angry at the men that threw the women out to let her be raped
by a mob of brutal beasts, and then slept like babies through it all!
I'm angry at the brutal beasts for their lack of compassion, morals, and
Human dignity!
I'm angry at the man who cut his concubine into pieces to prove his point!
It doesn't even say she was even dead when he did it, she could have still been alive!
The woman had run away from her master.
but she was unfaithful to him. She left him and went back to her father’s house in Bethlehem in Judah and stayed there for four months. (Judges 19:2 NCV)
Unfaithful.
She had been a slave woman when he took her or maybe purchased her.
At that time Israel did not have a king.
There was a Levite who lived in the faraway mountains of Ephraim. He had taken a slave woman from the city of Bethlehem in the land of Judah to live with him, (Judges 19:1 NCV)
Did he rescue her from slavery or did he use her like a slave? She was his concubine, not actually his wife, but perhaps he considered her to be his wife...
Did he love her?
He wanted her back.
It says he spoke kindly to her!
Then her husband arose and went after her, to speak kindly to her and bring her back, having his servant and a couple of donkeys with him. So she brought him into her fathers house; and when the father of the young woman saw him, he was glad to meet him. (Judges 19:3 NKJV)
She brought him into the house. She was willing to go back with him,
Maybe she was looking for comfort when she was unfaithful to him.
Looking for love.
Looking for somebody to SEE her!
Looking to matter....
But she died without mattering to anyone. She was thrown to the wolves! She was raped all night while her master stayed in the safety of the house.
But the men would not listen to him. So the Levite took his slave woman and sent her outside to them. They forced her to have sexual relations with them, and they abused her all night long. Then, at dawn, they let her go. (Judges 19:25 NCV)
What kind of man does this? A coward? A depraved man? Was this just a sign of the times?
She came back to the house where her master was staying and fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
In the morning when the Levite got up, he opened the door of the house and went outside to go on his way. But his slave woman was lying at the doorway of the house, with her hands on the doorsill.
The Levite said to her, “Get up; let’s go.” But she did not answer. So he put her on his donkey and went home. (Judges 19:26-28 NCV)
"Get up. Let's go."
Raped and ravished all night long! And thats the words spoken to her!
And then for reasons we can only assume, he cuts her into 12 pieces and sends them out to the 12 tribes of Israel ! It doesn't even say she was dead for sure BEFORE he did this!
Was he infuriated because of this atrocity done to his concubine?
Or furious at himself for allowing it?
She just wanted to be loved. It's what we all want.
Don't you want someone who'll stand up for you, who will put their arms around you and protect you.?
That you can run to when the world wants to ravish your soul?
All of us ....men, women, children...we all need a Father who'll say " NO WAY! You can't have them!' They're mine! They're the apple of my eye. And you don't mess with my kids!"
Maybe your earthly father threw you to the dogs, thought you were worthless, but your Heavenly Father thinks you're great!
He loves you so much He'd die before he'd let the devil take a hold of you! In fact, He did indeed die a horrific, agonizing death so that Satan cannot get you!
You're not a slave anymore!
You dont have to have to worry about spending your eternity with demons!
You have a Father that paid the price for you!
You were bought out of slavery!
You are free because of Him!
His Death on a cross sealed the deal!
You ARE HIS!
Can you whisper thank you???
The bible tells us that our fight is not against flesh and blood, that my anger should be aimed at the devil!
Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world. (Ephesians 6:12 NCV)
If we think any of us are unable to commit this kind of atrocity, we better think again! We are all, but depraved hearts without A Savior!
As much as it angers me that these women were so abused...any of us, without a savior, without our Lord, are capable of committing sins like these! The devil has a way of twisting our minds! Warping out thinking! He gets a little of our heart and begins to take it over!
You say NO WAY..
but the Bible says YES WAY!
If We don't ask Christ in, our enemy, lucifer, is waiting to make his entrance!
We're on one side or another, there is no middle road!
This story is to show us how LOW we can go without the Lord!
And no one is exempt!
I'm so very thankful I have a Father who won't toss me away to the demons!
Thankful that He protects me and loves me!
And even though I run away from Him, He is loving and forgiving!
No longer a pawn of Satan but a child of the King! And I can say checkmate to the Devil! You've lost!
I can TRUST my Father to do what's right.
Can you trust yours?
