Mark 4:11-12 - Those who "get" it

Jesus spoke in word pictures so that people could see and hear what He was saying, but only those who took pains to search into it would truly perceive the truths they espoused. They could see it, but not perceive what they were seeing. Why? Because they weren't disciples! If you want to perceive what Jesus is saying and doing then you must first become His disciple. That's why Jesus told His disciples that they mysteries of the Kingdom have been given to them (as disciples) but not to those on the outside (those who weren't His disciples). Whether or not you're Jesus' disciple is your choice!

The command in Matthew 28 isn't "go and make converts," but "go and make disciples." Because true disciples will search out the hidden things of God and when they do they will have a deeper understanding than those who don't. True disciples are those who are intimately close to Jesus - they spend time with Him, they faithfully follow Him even when they don't understand what He's doing or saying, they serve Him, etc. Jesus isn't looking for converts, He's looking for disciples. And in order to go from Convert to Disciple you have to be willing to spend time alone with Him and to search Him out like you're searching for hidden treasure in a field. If you're not searching Him out then you're no disciple! And when you're a disciple you will "get" it!
