Day #3 "What on Earth Am I Here For?"

What drives your life?
Everyone is driven by something.

Many ppl are DRIVEN by GUILT..
They're are manipulated by memories. They allow the past to control their future. It's important to remember we may be products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it!!

Many ppl are DRIVEN by ANGER..
They hold on to hurts, instead of releasing their pain thru forgiveness. They rehearse past over and over in their minds- causing some to "clam up" keeping anger in, while others may "blow up" and explode- both responses unhealthy and unhelpful! Ur past is ur past! Nothing will change it. You are only hurting YOURSELF by allowing bitterness to grow. For ur own sake.. learn from it and LET IT GO!!!

Many are DRIVEN by FEAR
Fears may result from past traumatic experiences, unrealistic expectations, or from growing up in a high-control home. Regardless of the cause, fear-driven ppl often miss great opportunities- afraid to venture out. FEAR is a self-imposed PRISON that will keep u from being all God intends for u to be!

Many ppl DRIVEN by MATERIALISM
The desire to "aquire" is the whole goal of their lives. This drive will always have u wanting more to be happier, feel more important/more secure. But, possessions only provide temporary happiness- so u will always be on hunt for more, and more, and more.. Remember, value is not determined by ur valuables.. God says the most valuable things in life are NOT things at all! REAL SECURITY can only be found in the one thing that cannot be taken from u- Your relationship with GOD!

DRIVEN by NEED FOR APPROVAL
Expectations of parents, spouses, friends and others control the lives of ppl with this drive. Many adults are still trying to win approval of their unpleasable parents. Others are driven by peer pressure- always worried what others think of them. However, they need to know that... ppl who follow the crowd, usually get LOST in it!! One guaranteed way to miss God's purpose for ur life, is to be controlled by the opinions of others. And w/o purpose, life is motion without meaning- trivial, petty and pointless!!

After taking a deeper look at the things that drive ppl, where do u think you stand? Well no matter where u are today, stay on this 40-day journey, so u can learn to live a PURPOSE-DRIVEN LIFE- controlled and guided by God's purpose for u.

Benefits of knowing...
Knowing your purpose focuses, motivates and produces passion for living! Nothing energizes ppl more than knowing their purpose in life.. without knowing, just getting out of bed can become a major chore!

Knowing ur purpose prepares u for eternity. Many will spend their lives trying to create a lasting legacy on Earth- wanting to be remembered by others when their gone. But what others will say is not what matters most- its what God says that is most important! A wiser choice is to build an eternal legacy!!! U weren't put here to be remembered, u were put here to prepare for eternity.

One day u will stand before God, and he will do an audit of ur life, a final exam, before u enter eternity.

God wants us to pass our exam, so like a good teacher he gives us the exam study guide in advance :) From the Bible we can surmise that he will ask us 2 crucial questions:

1. What did u did u do with my son, Jesus Christ- Did u accept him and learn to love and trust him? This answer will determine where we spend eternity.

2. What did u do with what I gave u (gifts, talents, opportunities, relationships, and resources)- did u spend them on urself or use them for the purposes I made u for? And this answer will determine what we do in eternity.

Day #3 Thinking
Point to ponder- Living on purpose is the path to peace.

Verse to remember: "You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their pur firm and put their trust in you." Isaiah 26:3

Questions to consider: What would my family and friends say is the driving force in my life? What do I want it to be?
