captivity isn't the end
I have heard this verse over and over again, and somethings that struck me new recently. First of all , God was saying this to the Isrealities as He was about to send them into captivity. He was sending them into to it to humble them . I don't know how well I would take this message, you are going to be enslaved for 70 years but don't worry I coming for you after. why not first? I know Isreal as a nation sinned, but this would be hard to swallow.
Second, in the king James it says " thoughts I have towards you" I know Gods thoughts are plans, but still.It touched me recently that he thinks about me. He has thoughts towards me that our good despite my sin and pride that is likely allow God to put me in a humble place.
