Motivation to Learn an instrument more in depth & to learn new songs
This passage may be used as a motivation to deepen one's skill with an instrument. The psalm says, "Sing a new song to Him;
play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout." It says to play "skillfully." How sloppy we can be with our guitar or piano chords? Certainly, we are learning & seeking to improve, however, if we neglect practice, or, if we neglect going deeper with our instruments, can we really say that we're playing "skillfully"? Also, shouldn't we learn new songs, or, maybe sing the older sings with new vigor & insight? Sing a "new sing!" This also gives license to write, literally, new songs with new lyrics & melodies. Seek out good, wholesome songs that are new & sing a "new song" to God.
