Consequences for not trusting God

At first I didn't understand why God wouldn't allow Moses and Aaron to lead the people into the Promised Land (vs.12) after this miracle was performed (vs.11). I mean, Moses did as God has said. He rounded the people up, struck the rock.....

Wait....

Then I had to REread this again and I read what God said to Moses: "Take the staff..... speak to that rock....and it will give water. You will bring water out for them..."

Where in this did it say "Strike the rock with you staff"?

No where! Not only did Moses and Aaron disobey God and His command, neither of them had faith that God would provide the water just by Moses speaking to the rock.

See, we fail to remember that miracles don't happen because of who  WE are, but who  GOD is in us. Moses forgot about the Red Sea opening for them and the Manna that fell from Heaven. He forgot how God brought them out of Egypt from under the rulership of Pharaoh and it's so sad that he still couldn't trust God to supply water from a rock.

So sad that when we don't trust God we miss out on LOTS of things. In this case, Moses and Aaron would not be allowed to see the Promised Land that they had been leading the children of Israel for all these years. That is the consequence for not trusting God.

I hope to continue to trust God and His Word. It only strengthens your belief and relationship in/with Him.
