No matter what...God CAN forgive

I have so much to say about Samson because he was the typical Christian young person that we have today. Although he was born a Nazarene (Christian) and grew up Nazarene (Christian household) he still made mistakes. Samson KNEW right from wrong and had been taught the difference at an early age, but he was willing to rebel and stray from what he was taught. He was of age to make his own decisions and he chose to congregate with his enemies (the wrong crowd of people; drug dealers, prostitutes, thieves and gangs). Now, although he was taught the right way....it was his choice to choose wrong.

This is what happens when God is not on our side. Sin begins to look good and now we are accepting false imitations of "the good life" because we have ventured onto the wrong things.

Ok, so now Samson is in the world and he now has enemies. These are people who want to kill him. He probably would have these SAME enemies and problems back at home and maybe would not have had to die, but it was Samson's choice and ultimately God's Plan.

You can even tell that Samson doesn't belong in this world. He is naïve when he starts trusting his wives (the enemy's accomplices) or Delilah (gold digger). He thinks that everyone has his good interest at heart...just like his Nazarene family back at home. He is slowly realizing that; 1. He isn't taking the gift God gave him seriously and 2. He isn't taking his own life seriously. Nope, he's not in Kansas anymore!

So, now that Samson has made ALL of these mistakes and stopped trusting in God...he has now sold his life for 1,100 pieces of silver to the enemy. He has fallen to the whims and devices of sin (Delilah). When we take our eyes off of Jesus, we spiral downward into a continuance of sin and disgrace. Samson had taken his eyes off of Jesus and what his mission was and now he, physically, lost his sight through the Philistine's. Now, he can't see and has to be led by a lowly child.

Isn't that amazing? Samson is weak and has to depend on a boy to guide him. He is humbled. Now, Samson realizes who God is and wants revenge on the Philistines. He asks God to give him his sight back that the Philistines took from him...physical sight and mental sight.

Now, looking at this story...one would think that Samson didn't deserve a second chance. He had squandered his life away by going into sin fully! Well, God heard his prayer and forgave Samson and his sins and God granted his prayer request. What a blessing!

There are many ways to look at this story...but two that I'll share are:

1. Parents, you may feel your child is too far gone into the world. You may feel like they don't hear you and what you have taught them about God in their youth. You may think that they don't hear God...but Samson's story tells you different. He strayed from his teaching as a child BUT his teaching NEVER left him. So, parents, do not be discouraged! Just plant the seed and allow God to do the rest.

2. Young people, yes, we sin. We fall. We mess up. We are human. But, do not let that be our hinderance into Heaven. No sin is too great to ask forgiveness for...even if your parents disown you...your Heavenly Father will ALWAYS love you. Don't let it be too late and we haven't made it right. God wants us to come to Him. He loves us that much and He is a God of Second Chances!
