Where does OUR Faith lie?
Sometimes I wonder why good things happen for some people and I'm sitting here waiting for my break thru. Well, after reading Matthew 9, I came across these few verses and I have a better understanding...
The woman with the issue of blood suffered for 12 years. She bled for 12 years, daily, straight. That has to be a terrible disease to have in those days because she was found to be "unclean", dirty and filthy...for all these years. I'm sure she went to her local doctor and tried to do everything she could to rid her disease, but it lasted for years.
She hears that a man will be in town. This is the same man that healed the blind man. He is known as the Savior. He was born from a virgin. He turned water into wine. He is a healer! She figures that she would go to this man, tell Him her issue and then she could be healed. Simple as that!
Well, finally, she is in a crowd....someplace she shouldn't be because she is ritually unclean. She could be stoned to death if she was found out. She tries to see him, but He is surrounded. "How will I ever get through?" she thinks to her self. She pushes her way through only to get thrown back into the street. She keeps trying. "Ive got to see him!"
She sees Jesus in the midst of the crowd and she just thinks, "If I could only touch the hem of His garment I could be healed!" She makes her way through and barely touches the bottom of Jesus' robe and she is INSTANTLY healed.
Because He is who He is, Jesus turns around and asks, "Who touched me?" He already knew He was surrounded by the crowd and many people touched Him, but that was not His question. He was asking "who believed in Me and in the power of the Almighty?" Jesus looked at the woman and she told Him, "It was me Lord". Then He says, "Because you had the faith and believed you are healed!"
This story made me realize that maybe I am still in debt or in need of financial assistance is because I don't believe that Jesus will bless me. I don't have enough faith in Jesus. I may have to suffer just like the woman suffered for 12 years. I may have to go without things in life!
We MUST believe in Jesus because He is the ONLY one who can save us.
