What Went Wrong? (Henderson)
"What Went Wrong?" was a series by Jeff Henderson at www.northpoint.org/messages. The essence of his message is that we all usually do small things that gradually lead to large distances between us and God. As we pursue conventional wisdom, is it more or less complicating than God's way? Solomon was told not to marry the Pharaoh's people, let alone his daughter. Solomon chose disobedience, which led to him having to build a special place for her outside of the house of David king of Israel. He continued to marry women of foreign lands and gradually they led him away from God. The consequences of Solomon's actions have carried through to this very day with the problems we see in the Middle East. What Solomon's father, David, realized that he did not was that when we find ourselves far from God, we don't have to stay there. We can step back towards God and find solution and simplicity rather than complicating and intertwining hopelessness.
