going out
Jesus sent his followers out, in pairs, to heal the sick and proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God... He told the to take nothin, to rely on God and that He will provide. if ppl took them in, they were to bless them... if they were rejected they were to shake off the dust from their feet and move on.
a... Jesus sends us out too...we have the same authority as Jesus followers, to heal and to share the good news... although what stops us... we are usually happy to share the good news... but healing... we sometimes hold back from... why... why dont I offer to pray for someone web they are sick, to claim healing in them... why, Jesus told us to do it, so why hold back...
also Jesus told His followers to bless the ppl and communities that receive them and take them in... do I bless those around me. we should take time to bless the ppl around us who "take us in" by praying blessings over them, also by our actions. The followers were also told to shake of the dust on their feet whether were rejected somewhere.... sometimes we are going to be rejected by ppl, places... we are told to shake off the dust on our feet in these situations... basically choose not to take on the rejection, the hurt that it could cause, but to shake it off, before it gets stuck on and harder to clean, before we allow it to affect our lives and to get us down (which is easier said than done sometimes... it involves handing things over to Jesus early and let him deal with the person or situation
