GOD's Great Love - Pastor Henry

The text teaches that salvation is in none other than the LORD Jesus preached Christ. Scripture does not teach that GOD loves all people alike, just as they are now, apart from repentance. Apart from regeneration no one will see the kingdom of GOD. No one can fulfill the righteous demands of GOD apart from the new birth. Boasting in your own works is indicative of a wrong focus - an inability to see. Once your soul is regenerated, you understand that Jesus is the only grounds for hope in the world.

Be careful of the loathing, murmuring, grumbling, and complaining that crops up on your heart as a result of GOD's providence being brought to bear upon you by second causes. Look to the promises of GOD in His word and trust that He will do what He has promised. Those who were doomed to die by the bite of the poisonous snakes were saved by looking to the exalted bronze statue (in hopes of the fulfillment of the promise of GOD). In like manner, all who look to the exalted Savior are redeemed from all of their sins and misery.

Dying physically pales I comparison to living (and eventually dying) apart from knowing Jesus.We've earned condemnation, yet we are passed over on account of the eternal Lamb of GOD.

To look to anything outside of Jesus is to despise the goodness of GOD.
