Jesus keeps mentioning a reward that will be given to those who do not seek attention from others to their good deeds. It sounds as almost as if He is saying, don't seek attention from other, seek attention from God. He compares the hypocrites as the antithesis of what He is admonishing, that when they announce their good deeds, they have already received their reward. What reward is that? Is it good favor? Acknowledgement? Is that the reward then which we shall get from the Father? Good favor? Acknowledgement? Is that a theology of works? Good favor by works? Rewards of the Father because of our works?
