chosen by God

These verses show that the Corinthians were chosen by God to follow Jesus. there wasnt anything that was special about them, besides they believed what was preached about Jesus (which seemed really foolish to some) and loved Him. they werent from important families, or wealthy.
Its the same today We are chosen to have a relationship with Jesus ( which sounds foolish to some people)... Jesus doesnt care what sort of background we are from, if we are not smart, popular, or important according to the world. He loves us, and chose us...and wants to continue His work of saving people through us
