Connect by being candid
From day 186 of Rick Warren's Daily Devotional. Genuine, healthy, deep, meaningful relationships are built on honesty not flattery. We all have blind spots. Who do you have that loves you enough to point them out? 3 Rules for being candid: compliment in public, correct in private (this goes for everyone); correct when they're up not down--timing is everything when you're being corrected; and finally, never offer correction until you've proven that you are also willing to be corrected.
