In the Old Testament, there was a lot of talk about judgment for the sin of God's people because the judgment had not yet been put on Jesus for their sins. Even though there was no sacrifice made then, God still had such a heart of love and compassion for God's people in the midst of all the depressing talk about judgment and discipline. God's heart has always been to save His people, not destroy them.
