What Habakkuk wanted for Christmas

Habakkuk 2:2-5, 12-15 NIV

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. "See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright— but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness— indeed, wine betrays him; he is arrogant and never at rest. Because he is as greedy as the grave and like death is never satisfied, he gathers to himself all the nations and takes captive all the peoples. "Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice! Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people's labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing? For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies!

Habakkuk 2:1, 3-5 NIV

I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.

In this passage Habakkuk is pleading to God to let loose His wrath upon the earth. He is sick of people loving away from God, an clinging to sin. So he asks for justice to prevail. In verse 14 we get a hint as to how God answers this request. (people like the fish of the sea)

Can you guess how God the Father answered this prayer?

God did not answer it the way Habakkuk probably wanted to. He answered it in the most wise, loving manner. He sent His son to bare the punishment for wickedness. All that believe on Him are freed from ultimate justice. They become pardoned of the their crimes. In the end though, God will honor His prophets request.( Matthew 7:8-9 NIV

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. "Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? )

There is a time coming when His wrath will be set loose, but only on those who have not trusted in Christ for salvation from destruction. Even though He seems delayed that day comes soon. Please, I'd you do not know you have a place in Heaven reserved forever. I ask you to know for sure.
