Blessed or Cursed? Words Have Power!

In Genesis 27, we see the further deceit of Jacob and his theft of Isaac's blessing that was intended for Esau. The most notable parts of this to me are: 1. Jacob and Rebekah desired these words from his father, Isaac, enough to go to great lengths to receive them. 2. Isaac can't retract the mistakenly given blessing. Once those words were spoken, it would be. 3. There could not be a double blessing in the family. Singularity and focused power of a blessing exists. Not all can have the high blessing of the family.

In our lives today, the same lessons hold true. We should value our words and not use them lightly. Words still have power. God's words have power above all else, but our words can carry a blessing from Him to the world. We bless our neighbors or we can curse them. We speak words of goodness and truth, or evil, slander, and deception. Once our words are out there, they remain out there. They is no do over for cursing someone, just as we see that Isaac could not retract the blessing of Jacob. In our household each member plays a role, not all will be roles in equal power and stature, but like life all are important pieces in God's puzzle. The words that you use to build up can help people to rise to their role. Curse and you may help a family member remain in bondage to insecurities and fear, until the day that they have had enough of enduring your curse. Thank you Jesus for the power of your word and the power to break from of bondage in your name.
