Paul's Labor for the Church (Col. 1:24-2:5)
Paul rejoices at what Christ did for them by dying on the cross for their sins. It is as if Paul thinks the church is weak and not growing in their faith. The gospel needs to be proclaimed to all nations because it has been hidden so Paul is its servant and the bearer of Good News to all people. This is Paul's work as God's plan for him. These people probably have only heard little about Christ and salvation. God wants everyone to know what Christ did for them so they can too spend eternity with him. Paul is teaching them in wisdom so they can become perfect in Christ. God's power works in Paul as he labors for Christ. God lives in Paul in his soul. He has sacrificed so much for them in being their servant. He wants them to be united in love, encouraged in heart, and having understanding to unlock the mystery of God. In Christ are all the treasures of wisdom. Paul doesn't want them to be deceived. He is with them in spirit and happy at their increasing faith.
