Fame of God
Again here is further text showing that the stories of what God had done to the Egyptians had spread throughout Mesopotamia.
This strengthens my hypothesis that God destroyed the last Hyksos rulers of Egypt (the ones I believe enslaved the Hebrews), thereby restoring Egypt to the real Egyptians in the 18th dynasty. Such an event to destroy a powerful civilization in the Middle East could not go unnoticed, and even hundreds of years later the Philistines still remembered.
From an archeological standpoint, the story of the famine in Egypt is corroborated in Egyptian hieroglyphs, but I wonder if evidence can be found from surrounding civilizations in the form of parables like, "Don't harden your hearts like the Egyptians." From these two verses it seems that the story was famous enough in Philistia that you'd have people put anecdotes or parables of it on pottery, or tablets.
