In todays life people are working so hard and striving for material things that they are now looking not to have children. Now there are more and more people that want to limit their descendent s to follow the desires of their heart.

The contrast is that the time of Abram there was a huge focus on numbers of decedents. This could have been due to security in those times. But I think there was a more distinctive difference in the way people were back then. It has to do with community and their desire to commune with their family. These days we rarely meet with family and when we do it is an occasion often stressed over to be just right. In those days you had community with your descendants. You ate and lived with them and the relationship was normal and healthy.

Ahhh - This explains a few things. I was always confused between Abram and Abraham!!! they are the same... And like the Song, Father Abraham had many sons many sons had father Abraham. I am one of them and so are you so lets just praise the Lord.

Circumcision: this is a visible but private sign of the following of the Lord. It is painful thus memorable and is the sign of the covenant of the Lord. It is the sacrifice made to him as recognition of the covenant between Abraham and the Lord.

Is your covenant between the Lord visible? Mine probably is not. (could work on this) Was your covenant with the Lord signed with something memorable? (Mine was not).

We forget something that is outlined in these passages (Gen18:14-15) The Lord created everything in 7 days. He has total Wisdom and transcends time. There isnt anything that Describes hi adequately. Yet we doubt his ability based on our own understanding and knowledge and still we worry that we might look bad so we lie to make sure we look good. Funnily enough he knows all about us anyway so thats why he asks us to be totally honest with him. I love you Lord. 

Matt 6:1: Recognition. Lots of People seek it. I generally forget that i am already measured by the Lord and that the deeds that I do especially Good ones are recognised by the King himself. Relate this to Life now. Imagine you did a deed, say donated a sum of money ($500) to a good cause. At the exact same time that you did this deed the Queen got a message that you did it and she was pleased. But she didnt call you and say well done. She continued to fulfil a plan for you to be refined into the perfect person you were designed to be. In this World Queen Elizabeth cant and wont be dong this, But the Lord God almighty does do this nop matter how big or small the deed, no matter if the Deed is good or bad. He loves us so much that he watches us constantly and has a life plan for us. Matt 6:4

Psalm 7:5 David puts things ultimately into the Lords hands. He doesnt try to corner the Lord into something David wants, He puts his actions on the line and asks the Lord to judge the situation.  

Proverbs 2:1-5 This should be the passage dedicated to any reading plan. The hierachy of Knowledge - Understanding - Wisdom is outlined in this passage. Following the bible to learn more about the Lord "by making your ear attentive to Wisdom (this bible) and by turning your heart to understanding (application of the knowledge of the bible). You will know how to fear the Lord.
