Plucking Grain on the Sabbath:
(1) Had the disciples violated God's law?
-Their view of the sabbath was wrong
-The Sabbath did not forbid all activity
-The Pharisees could not view the disciples as breaking the Sabbath
-Helping others or "good works" we're acceptable on the Sabbath
-They could do what was authorized but could not do what was not
(2) In verse 27 is Jesus saying the He can ignore the Sabbath?
-He is not saying He can ignore it, He is displaying His authority because He is the Lord
-Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, and made these rules
-If anyone knows how to interpret the Sabbath, it is Jesus
-God did not make the Sabbath a burden, the Pharisees did by making it into something oppressive
-They made it oppressive but saying how everything no matter how menial was work and a violation of the Sabbath
Assumptions:
-Jesus is trying to defend the actions of guilty men
-He endorsed what David did
-Ceremonial laws can be set aside when they interfere with the needs of man
-The disciples, David and his men are on the verge of starvation
