It's not enough...
I'm coming to the end of a 21-day Daniel fast, and it has really shown me the sustaining power of doing something for God. I haven't been hungry or so much as longed for a sweet tea the whole time. Before the fast, I was an avid Bible reader, I longed to soak up God's word. That hasn't changed, but there's one thing that I have longed for even more than that during the fast and that's to communicate with God through prayer more effectively, more comfortably, and more OFTEN. I hadn't done that until tonight. Tonight was literally the first time I have prayed out loud since starting the fast, and the result was overwhelming. I know now exactly what Christ meant when He says in Matthew 4:4 that man cannot live on bread alone. I prefer to think of the Bible as meat, but regardless, you can't just read it and not apply it, and the best way to do that is by praying!
This can be applied to anything and any level of spirituality. For instance, you can't just go to church and not get involved, or you can't just listen to sermons and not read your Bible. You can't pray for provision and not tithe, etc., etc. I pray this message reaches someone who needed to hear it, God...I know I did!
