Repent and be Baptized
Here, the Bible makes it clear that we must turn from sin and identify ourselves with Christ. Baptism PRONOUNCES it. Our Christians today may choose to "pronounce" their child a follower upon birth, which, given that we are all born sinners, they pronounce that their child will turn from sin. Other Christians today will wait until they older, so that they better understand Christ and repent for their specific sins.
I was raised by a Baptist mother and a Catholic father. The subject of Baptism is somewhat sensitive for many families, including mine. Whether it is pronounced at birth, or as an adult, it is definitely an important Christian ceremony to pronounce ourselves as followers of Christ, not only for that moment in front of the public, but every day.
For those who were not raised in a Christian household, the message of Baptism is especially important; it shows that it is never too late to turn from sin as long as you're alive. Christ will accept you, love you, and forgive you.
