God's Power attracts

Acts 6:5, 8 NASB God's power comes through very ordinary people, people who are not seeking as a quest to make themselves famous or rich but rather to serve people and glorify God. We see Stephen as such a man. A man appointed to serve tables and yet was full of the Holy Spirit's power and faithfulness.

Yet God's power seems to attract intense scrutiny and persecution as well admiration and followers. In Stephen's case, the learned men of his day were vexed with him because his trust in God showed the error of their ways despite their knowledge. This angered them as they could see God's wisdom but refused to acknowledge because that would take away the esteem and honour they got from man. So they lied against Stephen and brought him before the Council/ Sanhedrin. Sometimes God's power will put your life in danger when it is in full operation.
