All of God's Creation: The Soap Opera (Arc I)

Wow.
Needless to say, it has been a long time since I wrote a note. And it wasn't that this section was boring to me; Jacob/Israel was fascinating to read about! I just... God was dealing with me. But I am better now.

As I said, the life of Jacob was fascinating. I mean, the twelve tribes were born during this time, there was rape, there was thievery, murder; Jacob even said that his sons Simeon and Levi caused his name to stink to high heaven! I have to say it: this was one of the best history lessons I've learned thus far. It was almost like a soap opera:
Jacob steals from his brother Esau; Esau threatens to kill Jacob, so Jacob, with the help of his mother, runs away to safety where he falls in love with Rebekah; Rebekah's father is an evil man who tricks Jacob into working for 7 years for his daughter's hand only to give him the wrong daughter, so Jacob works another 7 for the right one; when it comes time to having babies, Jacob prefers Rebekah, so God gives Leah all the children before he releases Rebekah's womb, and then even the maids have children by him (SCANDALOUS!); he has twelve sons in all (the tribes of Israel)- Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Dan, Naphtali, Isacchar, Benjamin, Joseph, Judah, Zebulon, Gad, Asher (I only had to look up the last four!); one of Leah's daughters, Dinah, gets raped and then the man asks to marry her and in the end, Simeon and Levi kills all the men and the brothers plunder the land saying, "You don't mess with my sister and get away with it!"; they meet back up with Esau who, after the season finale, ends up taking his brother back with open arms; God blesses Jacob with the name Israel, and he finally heads back home.

That's the gist of what happens. Soap opera much? But it is so good! I didn't know that reading the Bible could be sooo entertaining! I can't wait for the next episode!
