In these scriptures we learn that by abiding in Christ Jesus and by allowing His word to abide in us we should be bearing fruit for use in the kingdom of God. And that if we bear fruit then we must be willing also to allow God the Father to prune us when pruning is needed to allow for greater growth.
Jesus goes on to teach us that living this life without Him we can do nothing, we cannot bear any fruit that will be of any use to the heavenly Father. We also learn that by abiding and living for Him and His words applied to our daily walk then He tells us that if we ask anything, it shall be done. Once again further establishing that our blessings are tied to our obedience. In verses 10 through 17 He admonishes us to understand the strong connection that LOVE has to OBEDIENCE and vice versa. They are entwined together.
