Judgement, Meditation and Self-Examination

In 1985 I made a decision to read through the Bible and that decision was not made to get closer to God but to know what really was in the book.  After that year, I have attempted to go through the Bible year after year.  Each year my understanding becomes deeper and deeper.

One of the things I use to say as I went through Leviticus, parts of Numbers and Ist and 2nd Chronicles, was I read them at 125 mph.  They were so boring and didn't make sense to me or either why to many unnecessary details.  It is now 2012 and I know better.  Leviticus points to Christ, the New Covenant and if you haven't attempted to understand the Old Covenant how would you know if the New was better, how would you know what the New meant when Jesus, Paul, James, Peter and John spoke of them?

Today I see in three chapters of Leviticus 11-13 that we are to live a life "judging" between clean and unclean guided by the moral codes G_d has given us and Jesus modeled when He was on the earth.  To judge means you must meditate on the Word and then examine both one's environment, material items that are used to live and self-examine one's life.  A self-examined life is something that needs to be done 24/7 to remain "clean."

Nothing in the Word of G_d is un-useful.  Just because you don't understand and can see no use, doesn't mean it is not useful.  In all your getting, Get understanding.
