Power of Encouragement

S: Until the day was about to dawn, Paul was encouraging them all to take some food, saying, "Today is the fourteenth day that you have been constantly watching and going without eating, having taken nothing. Therefore I encourage you to take some food, for this is for your preservation, for not a hair from the head of any of you will perish." Having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it and began to eat. All of them were encouraged and they themselves also took food. (Acts 27:33-36 NASB)

O: Even in the midst of a deadly storm Paul understood the power of not just encouraging words but also of actions. His actions were so powerful that the men followed his lead in spite of their fear.

A: As a leader in my family and even in ministry I must be an encourager. However, my encouraging must come through more than just words. I must be willing to encourage through my actions. People will be encouraged by my words, but my actions will spur them to belief and action.

P: Lord, my most favorite quote is from Francis of Assisi. He said that we should preach the gospel at all times but if necessary use words. I want all my life to reflect that. I want to lead more through actions than having to speak. May my actions be such that others are encouraged by what I do.

I love You, Lord
