Resting From Your Own Work

In Hebrews we are told that God rested and looking back at Genesis we find that since the earth was finished He stopped working.

The Bible teaches that the redemption of man is a finished work. You don't need to work as if you could try to help God redeem you because you can't! Even if you were able to you couldn't but one of the numerous reasons you can't is because God already finished it.

Let's say I was going to paint a house and a friend wanted to do me a favor so while I was at work he himself took all the equipment, paint, etc and painted my house for me. By the time I got home I noticed that my house was already painted ...what would I do? Would I frantically start searching for my tools and my paint? No, the only thing I could really do is enjoy it because it, being finished, meant there was nothing left for me to do but enjoy it.

In the same way once God finished His work He rested from all that He had made and now friend it's time to rest from what you can make and create and start resting in the finished work of Jesus.
