I think I'm blind
What a perplexing passage. I've read this passage numerous times and always wonder why this healing occurred this way. A man's friends bring him to Jesus that He might touch him and be healed, or so it seems to be implied. Christ first seeks privacy to be with the man which at times has been his preference. He desires a personal experience with this man. Yet why did His healing occur in two parts? It is unclear, and I think this is a good lesson for us.
What Christ does is good. We are not likely to understand it all but we can understand that He will continue to be good. This should free us from feeling as if we are responsible for results in His Kingdom. They occur in His timing. Our prayers will be answered at the right time and in the right way. However, for His own reasons they often take time.
We can all attest to this by our experiences. Sometimes immediate miracles occur. At other times they are wrought by years of prayer. Nonetheless they come to pass. In researching this passage I even saw one interpretation that drew an analogy between spiritual blindness and this man's physical blindness. As we grow in Christ Hi ways are strange and confusing like the men walking around like trees but as Christ touches us again( and again , and again,...) things become clearer. Now we see but through a glass darkly but then we shall see face to face. Keep faith in the Lord who heals the blind even when you cannot see or understand what He is doing.
