Is God with you?

In this new rendition of The daily verse, you can reply and I'll get it and if it is appropriate I'll post it for the benefit of everyone. Please pray for me as I read God's word each day. Judges 16:20

20 Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”

When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the LORD had left him.

Samson never seems to be concerned about the the Lord. We get no sense of a relationship with God. Samson seems to be concerned only with what Samson wants. But in chapter 15, verse 14, we read, "But the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon Samson." So we can be sure that God was involved in the things that Samson was doing at some times. But Samson seems a spoilt child. When he is thirsty after killing 1,000 men with a jawbone, he takes credit for the victory and tells God that it was by Samson's strength that God had used to accomplished the victory. God makes water gush out to the ground and Samson has the audacity to name the place after himself instead of God. I don't like the guy at all. But this is not a story about Samson. It is not about Samson's worthiness. It is not about being good! It isn't about great strength. This is about God. When the Lord chooses to use Samson, he is with him, and amazing things happen. God's people are avenged, and the enemies of God's people are defeated. But when the Lord leaves Samson, he is on his own. Samson seems to have no humility and he does not take on board God's role in his strength, until it is a bit too late. But we are shown God's power at work. We are able to see that is no small thing to have the Lord with you. And it is a great peril to not have the Lord with you. David many years later was doing his own thing too and his greatest fear was loosing the presence of the Lord's Holy Spirit. Psalm 51:11 Is the Lord with you? Do you know if he is or not? Are you aware of the presence of the Lord? Do you trust him? Are you concerned for the reputation of the Lord. How is God accomplishing his purposes in and through you?

Here are some important passages that show God's presence with his people.

Judges 1:19

Judges 1:22

Judges 2:18

Judges 14:19

Joshua 6:27

Joshua 1:17

Genesis 39:2

Hebrews 11:32

How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets.

Hebrews 11:31-33
