My yoke is easy & burden is light.
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me- watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.
"come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Jesus is describing his character and prompting us to follow it. By following in jesus' footsteps, we will also, in turn, receive rest because he carries our burdens, making His yoke easy to bear. Learning from Him will teach us to be gentle and humble in heart.
I want to delve into the characteristics of Jesus and display them in my own life. I want to be gentle and humble at heart. I can live freely and lightly. GRACE.GRACE.GRACE. Forgive others. Think of others as better than myself.
Jesus, help me to be fully devoted to you and live out your character. Sometimes it is hard for me at work when I feel so busy or stressed to feel like I can live freely and lightly. Please help me to rely on you for strength and extend grace every second of the day so that I leave your impression on others. Thank you! I love you! AMEN.
