Re: in the beginning
God is the self existing one. He always has been and always will be. We are created beings so it is difficult to see how there could be an eternal backwards because we had a beginning. But see we can think of an eternal forward(as displayed by more than just our approach to God). God never had a beginning he has always been and he made us to exist eternally forward with him and understand that there is no profit in believing except for yourself. God never says to join a church(as we know them today) and he says that the old law is gone through Christ. If anyone tells you that you have to tithe or do anything but believe that Christ is the son of God with you full heart and profess that he is and thay he is your personal Lord and savior then they are either deceiving you or they are misinformed (but we must study God's word to see what he wants of us and what he has in store for us, otherwise we are looking to the world for information on God). Run from people who want to get you to do something other than accept Christ or study the word, because if you go under the law at any one point the grace of Christ is made none effect to you.
