The rock

I love reading the Psalms when life gets difficult. When things fall apart and I feel disillusioned, David's words just speak into my soul. This whole chapter just resonates with David's complete confidence in God. When he was being physically pursued, he said that GOD was his fortress that would never be shaken. When people were spreading lies about him, he said that his salvation and honor depended on GOD. What really mattered to David was not the next place he would find to hide or the next thing he would need to say to counter people's lies about him... What he talks about is how he trusts God to be all that he needs: defender and savior. When I would look to answers from the world to deliver me from my problems and confusion, David would say look to God. God is not just an option, he is the rock in a life where everything else is flotsam in a tossing sea. The Psalms speak into my soul and remind me of that. Father, be the rock to which I can cling. Thank you that you are that for me now.
