Job day 3
Whoa, talk about a miserable human- even with all of the blessings and the rich abundant life that Job had lived before these afflictions, he now is so miserable that he wishes he had never been born. Once again he is asking the Lord to go ahead and finish his days off so that he may be free from this and take comfort in death.
Zophar his friend? is saying that he is obviously gulity of iniquity, yet he reminds Job that the Lord will forgive him if he prepares his heart and stretches out his hand to God. He then paints a beautiful picture of God's forgiveness- no spots, no fear, clear, and secure. He ends with a dire warning though- for the wicked.
Even though we know thatJob's friends are wrong about why Job is suffering they do offer up some pretty good arguments. I loved this passage from chapter 11 about the mercy and forgiveness of God- how "thou shalt forget thy misery" the language he uses there is beautiful.
Job's friends are really harsh towards him- why given Job's wonderful exemplary life before this do his friends not believe him when he says he has done no wrong? Job answers his friends real sarcastically, they seem to have all the answers yet they are not listening to him. He declares and adores the Lord for all the mighty ways He is. He tells of all the wonderful and awesome things that he does and will do- only the Lord is able to do all this. Even in his afflictions Job takes the time to enumerate and expound upon the Lord God Almighty.
Even when it seems as if God has turned his back on me, Job says, I will still trust in him.
