The First Message

Peter being the 1st to deliver the Christ's message (as he was the 1st to draw his sword for the Christ and the first to step out on faith and walk on water)

We critique this message by its scriptual foundation (no USA Today or anything else; only scripture)

1.) The Denial of Drunkeness: v. 14 Peter stood up with the 11. The apostles stood in unity to address the crowd. They were not in cliques, clubs, or groups; they were TOGETHER before the crowd (some of which were the same who cried out "crucify him!" but with the strength of the righteous unity they stood together with courage. As Peter said these men are not drunk, it is only 9am.

2.) Detail of the Prophecy: its important to note that the spirit filled all of them. Peter began with the scripture and went on with several mentions of prophecy. Is there prophecy today? 1/ It has to line up with scripture 2/ It has to be true 3/ It has to come to pass If these things arent ALL in order then one does not have the gift of prophecy.

He states that EVERYONE that calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. In this he says Salvation is open to everyone by God's choice and can only be denied by our choice.

3.) The Description of the Christ: Reminds them that they crucified the messiah (the Christ) - to lay his death directly on their conscious

Describes him as the coming king and the suffering servant.

Uses a particular phrase to describe the ressurection "freeing him from the agony of death" and saying that he "could not be held by its power"

He identifies that he filfilled the prophecy from the house of David; he did this because he knew the respect that they had for David and he was showing them much more respect that they ought to have for the messiah. (brought them back to scripture, "the lord said to my lord sit at my right hand until i make your enemies your footstool" that not only was he of David but also of God)

4.) Deification of the Christ: Peter outlined again from scripture and prophecy and evidence of experience.that He was more than a carpenters son. That his affect was more than Charisma but that it was power backed by the Almighty as the one who was given by him.

"How else can one explain how this propertyless, 33 man who was executed without a court of appeals and laid to rest in a borrowed tomb, who's body has never been discovered, has had more effect on the world than all the kings, scholars, and actors of the world of all ages have had combined? How do you explain it, unless he was who he said he was." -Pastor R. Slade
