Isaiah 59:1 and 2 are a painful reminder that sin causes separation between me and God. Although God loves me and wants to be with me, sin creates a chasm between us. God is still in His place, but sin moves me away from Him. This is an awful place to be; out of tough with God, not responsive to His drawing. (See Jer. 5:20-30)
