What do you need today?

Have you ever studied the rock in which Moses struck as it provided enough water for two million people and animals? This was not a small rock. Check it out on the link below.

Here is the passage:

"In the first month all the people of Israel arrived at the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried. There was no water for the people, so they came together against Moses and Aaron. They argued with Moses and said, “We should have died in front of the Lord as our brothers did. The Lord said to Moses, “Take your walking stick, and you and your brother Aaron should gather the people. Speak to that rock in front of them so that its water will flow from it. When you bring the water out from that rock, give it to the people and their animals.” So Moses took the stick from in front of the Lord, as he had said. Moses and Aaron gathered the people in front of the rock, and Moses said, “Now listen to me, you who turn against God! Do you want us to bring water out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and hit the rock twice with his stick. Water began pouring out, and the people and their animals drank it. But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe me, and because you did not honor me as holy before the people, you will not lead them into the land I will give them.” (Numbers 20:1-3, 7-12 NCV)

This is a crazy, ridiculous, incredible miracle ... There are so many important points to remind us of how God thinks and works. Let's review some of them:

. Once again, God provides salvation to a grumbling, unthankful people
. God created something out of nothing - water from a rock
. God holds leadership (Moses) accountable at very high levels
. The power and capability of God is complete and anything is possible
. Trust God even though it appears impossible
. God shows mercy even to the unsaved - these people were cursed by God
. Don't mock God and give "him" the glory and credit for "everything"
. People quickly forget past blessings - as a leader, expect it

As you may struggle with something that seems impossible think of this miracle. Learn from past failures ... could God have provided something that was not there?

God gives love where there is none. God provides patience and endurance when you are depleted. God provides life where people are dying. God can even regenerate a dead person. And most importantly God can actually change your desires and taste for godly things. He can change an addict. He can remove hate. He can help you love the unlovely. He can help you out of depression. He can give you strength to overcome a weight issue, discipline to work hard and bless you in any manner that he chooses to do so.

The key is to love him. The requirement is accept his Son, Jesus Christ. You must love him with all (not some) of your heart, soul, mind and strength "and" love your neighbor as yourself. You must follow Christ which makes you and I an "authentic" Christian. If you do this, you will "never" be dominated by evil or sin. You will actually become a new creature. Like the rock, God provides life. And thank God that he provides it even when we take things for granted and grumble ...

LORD - just for today, just for right now, please provide life, strength, and help me simply have faith and act as if I possess this faith. You really can provide anything you desire. Any outcome is possible. Give us all the faith to act and live like we truly believe this - IJNIP amen
