Obedience and thankfulness to God

Moses wrote a historical account of how he gave the Law to the next generation of Israelites who were about to take the Promised Land. He warned the people to not forget the Lord after they were done with warfare and things were good. They were to not get comfortable and drift away from the Lord nor break His commandments. The blessings were conditioned upon their fealty to Him.

We see in Judges that the Israelites forgot the Lord very quickly when things were good. He would have to discipline them time and time again. But God always kept His promise to them in spite of their rebellion because He loved them and was faithful to His commitments.

We too must always be faithful and obedient to God in all circumstances. Too often we fall into the trap of ignoring God when things get comfortable. We tend to get complacent in our walk until God allows a crisis to come into our lives. Then we are driven to our knees and refocus on Him. We should always be in a posture of hunger for Him and gratitude for what He's done. We can demonstrate our gratitude through unconditional obedience.
