Blinded by Religion

These men were so numbly set in their religious practices and traditions that they were literally blinded to the Holy Spirit. How terrible! They did not recognize the Holy Spirit at work right in front of them. While we can quickly jump in to judge these men, in the Church today we are easy prey for this as well. While we love our traditions and MOST of our religious traditions are not inherently bad (or good even), it is very important that we do not let them blind us to what truly makes us right with God. We are made right with God through our faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:22) and turning from our sinful life to follow God (Acts 3:19) Saying a certain prayer, singing a certain song, having a certain instrument (or no instrument), following a certain routine- while these can make us more comfortable at church and even make church more enjoyable, they do not make us right with God. Lets make sure we do not forget what matters :)
